Since 2007, the Portuguese Cinemateca – Museu do Cinema has been developing a Project of pedagogical interest aimed at children and young people, from Pre-School Education to Secondary Education.
The Cinemateca Júnior is an educational project whose main objective is to make known the history of cinema, framing it in a historical-cultural, social and scientific context appropriate to the syllabus, contributing to lifelong learning.
A Permanent and Interactive Exhibition takes us on a fascinating journey that takes us back to the 17th century. XVIII and XIX, telling us how the fixed images were animated before one of the great inventions of the end of the century. XIX: THE CINEMA. In this exhibition, children will be able to interact with replicas of the most significant objects to learn about their functioning and their historical importance. A Movie Theater takes us to a magical place where heroes acquire their deserved dimension. As a Museum of Cinema, it is up to us to put young people in contact with cinematographic art.
Cinemateca Júnior organizes programs of monthly activities and free time activities during the Christmas school holidays, carefully designed according to age groups: Pre-Cinema and Cinema Workshops, Thematic Visits to the Exhibition, Games, Film Sessions, Shows and other fun activities that allow learning by playing.
