Choreographer Ana Rita Teodoro brings to TBA two of her most recent works, the dance-conference Your Teacher, please and the dance piece aaah. Two works that allow us to look at the formation and aspirations of a dancer and an artist in continuity.
Your Teacher, Please is a dance-conference where Ana Rita Teodoro, as a student, goes through the Butoh dance practices that were transmitted to her by Yoshito Ohno at the Kazuo Ohno Dance Studio in Japan. it is essential to go back to the studios and collect the modes of transmission of this dance. It is necessary to understand why the aesthetics of Butoh and its clichés (twisted, white and slow figures) tend to dominate the thought and processes that helped to build an avant-garde art that revolutionized its context and its time. When thinking about transmission in dance, we seek to restore the dynamic processes of butoh fabrication, to better move away from an aesthetic that seems frozen in time and without a restored poetic background.
