“Hepyek” is a solo musical performance by Turkish musician Volkan İncüvez composed of elements of modal and modern music, as well as improvisation. Ney, voice, fretless guitar, electric guitar and çağlama are the instruments used in this performance.
The repertoire brings contemporary modal music closer to popular music from various regions of Turkey. Instrumental compositions present the characteristics of traditional Turkish musical pieces, mostly accompanied by improvisation. It mainly expresses the intersection and fusion of traditional and native life with modern life, while having its share in the industrial world. In addition to the rhythmic and melodic structure recognized throughout Anatolia, this performance is merely a transcendental experience that touches on styles such as Afro rhythm and grooves, jazz harmony, modular and polyphonic harmony, Anatolian ethnic music and progressive music.
In other words, “Hepyek” nourishes melodies and harmonies on the continents, wanders through the skies without route or destination and releases its essence at the bottom of the sea.
