Sven Helbig is a German composer whose work has been published in leading publishers such as Deutsche Grammophon, Neue Meister or Sony Classical. His modernist vision of classical music has led him to combine choral and orchestral works with the most modern electronics, an originality that has earned him much applause from the specialized critics. Helbig was, for example, the author of the arrangements for choirs and orchestra in parts of two of the albums of the rock group Rammstein, one of the most famous contemporary German projects. The musician, who lived in New York in the period following the fall of the Berlin Wall, currently lives in Dresden. And if in his first work, Pocket Symphonies, he looked for a symphonic density in the miniatures of the songs; on SKILLS, his new album, it is the detail of the craftsmanship that inspires him to work with three horns, tuba and a string quartet.
Now, Sven Helbig is preparing his debut in Portugal with a special concert at the Museu do Oriente in which an ensemble of piano, violin, viola and cello will complement his electronics. In his luggage, the pianist and composer will bring not only the brand new and highly anticipated SKILLS, but also key pieces that will carry us through his brilliant career. Unique opportunity to meet and applaud closely one of the most promising composers of the modern classical scene.
