Masha is a shy 12th grader who feels like an outsider when she’s not with her classmates, Yana and Senia, who share her nonconformist view of life. As she travels through the emotional mess of waiting for adulthood to begin, she has fun with her friends. But as she tries to get through her senior year of high school, Masha falls in love in a way that forces her to step out of her comfort zone.
“Stop Zemlia – If you don’t risk it, you’ll never know” shows an authentic, radical and sensitive reality of what it’s like to be a teenager. The first work by Ukrainian filmmaker Kateryna Gornostai, this is a perspective on Ukrainian adolescence and a personal story about the patience that self-discovery demands.
