On the date on which the World Poetry Day is celebrated, Cinema Nimas exhibits a special session dedicated to one of the most important names in Portuguese poetry: Manuel Gusmão.
The session, whose title comes from one of his verses, features interventions by the philosopher and writer Maria Filomena Molder, the actor Diogo Dória and the poet Marta Chaves. The participants read a choice of poems by Manuel Gusmão that dialogue with cinema (by directors such as Joris Ivens, Wong Kar Wai, Bergman, Dreyer, Bresson, Straub/Huillet, Buñuel and Kurosawa, among others).
The films Quem Espera por Sapatos de Defunto Dies Barefoot – A cinematographic proverb, by João César Monteiro, in what is the only appearance of Manuel Gusmão in a film, and Une Histoire de vent, by Joris Ivens and Marceline Loridan, are also shown. , the poet, wrote a poem in the book Pequeno Treaty das Figuras (2013).
