Kintsugi is an art of Japanese restoration that is over a thousand years old. In this technique, Japanese artisans repair ceramic pieces with gold dust. It is not intended to cover the imperfections, but to highlight them, since they are part of the life of the piece. Thus, the piece is repaired, highlighting the golden break lines. Imperfections gain a new story that must be seen and appreciated through the delicate and embellished lines. In this workshop, participants can bring one or two ceramic pieces that are special to them and that they would like to see restored.
Initially, a theoretical approach to the technique is made, followed by a practical phase. The works will not be carried out with gold dust, but with alternative gold materials, in order to make the process less toxic, more accessible, and faster.
