On Earth I’m Done: Mountains
HOTSPOT: International Dance Solos
On Earth I’m Done: Mountains, made for the Swedish company Cullberg, is the new solo by Jefta van Dinther, which is usually alternated in the interpretation by two dancers of this company and by the interpreter/choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira. It will be precisely in the interpretation of Marco da Silva Ferreira that this work will be discovered at the CCB.
Jefta van Dinther is a choreographer who almost always dialogues with very interesting scenic mechanisms, cables, pulleys, canvases and, in this case, a huge strip of fabric that is inexorably pulled upwards, like a mountain that rises to a redemptive sky, which defines and conditions the entire choreographic composition.
A profound work, at once raw and sophisticated, it summons the viewer to an enchanted state, an unexpected change in the relationship between space and time. A work that operates in the spiritual symbolism of a mountain and in the relationship it establishes with an archaic body and an omnipresent voice, in this case the interpreter himself. A work that questions the relationship between nature and culture, about what it means to exist and care for the planet, a challenge to each one of us. An hourglass turned upside down in which a body is inscribed, which exalts the intelligence of nature and offers us an inner journey. – Rui Horta
