A show created with the community, about citizenship, about belonging to places, about political consciousness and about the endemic conflict between individual and collective interests. The apparent functional austerity, puffy and monotonous, of a condominium meeting obscures a variety of events and revelations of an intrinsically theatrical nature that this project proposes to dismantle and expose. The consequences can be serious and provoke laughter or tears, or upset more or less deeply rooted religious and political convictions. Theatrical fun arises from a bitter taste in the mouth and is reflected in black comedy, psychological thrillers, knife-and-pot or “telenovela” novels, and tragedy. In this Agora, with walls and ceiling, what is authentic and self-represented in individuals is revealed, contradictions, idealizations, kindness and rudeness, cynicism, desire, loneliness, selfishness, the emptiness of soul, dogmas and prejudices. It is a space for debate and mutual help, for open conflict and for solving banal tasks, but also for epic “big statements”.
“Condominium” is the microscale of political action and republican praxis. It is the place of confluence of action of a public nature and what is of the private order, the place of social organization in which the relations between will and duty are manifested explicitly. In condominium meetings, we can observe a set of human interactions in which individual interests are disputed under the plan of managing the common good. The civic and political dimension of these relationships clashes with the familiarity between people, with the banality of habits or the irrelevance of the daily episodes that dispute the protagonism of these sessions. Under the pretext of this format, anything can happen: ideological debates, fraternal moments, confidences, heated and passionate discussions, defense of honor, Skype conversations, arbitrary interruptions (the world that runs in parallel, outside – the life of the house, the cat pets, children, work phone calls, traffic delays, etc.), galvanized speeches, moral statements. It is a meeting that X-rays the social body, exposing a raw view of the complex articulations that govern human behavior and interactions.
