EVENT: Circuit of the 11 Viewpoints of Lisbon
DATE OF ACHIEVEMENT: JULY 17, 2022
DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
In this event, we will take the day to go on a walk that, over about 11 kms, will take us to 11 of the most emblematic viewpoints in the city of Lisbon, this time revealing some of the best panoramic views over the Tagus River and the easternmost part of the city. . We will walk through streets, alleys, stairs, and patios in search of each of these places, some true treasures that it is necessary to remember and rediscover! Come from there and get to know a lot more about the city of Lisbon.
Some of the points of interest on the hike:
Penha de França viewpoint
Viewpoint of Nossa Senhora da Porziuncula
Botto Machado Garden Viewpoint
Sophia de Mello Breyner Viewpoint
Portas do Sol viewpoint
Santa Luzia viewpoint
Senhora do Monte viewpoint
Recolhimento Viewpoint
Viewpoint of Monte Agudo
Santo Estevao viewpoint
Viewpoint of Chão do Loureiro
etc., etc., etc.
Monte Agudo viewpoint
What a magnificent image… You can see Lisbon as far as the eye can see! Next to us is a map of the city painted on tiles to feed the curiosity of those who investigate the landscape.
We are beyond the northern limit of Colina de Santo André, on the slope of the former Vale de Arroios, current Avenida Almirante Reis, a little below the Miradouro da Senhora do Monte located on our left…
The perspective is extremely long and comprehensive, but it is difficult to detect specific points in the landscape because the urban roofs are all repeated at the same height and very close to each other. The low height of this viewpoint doesn’t help either…
Viewpoint of Nossa Senhora da Porziuncula
The Miradouro da Nossa Senhora da Porciúncula, so called because it is located in the courtyard of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Porciúncula – also known as Igreja Paroquial de Santa Engrácia – does not seem to have been built with the purpose of a viewpoint but, fortunately, is located on a somewhat elevated terrain overlooking the Tagus River.
Its elevation does not allow you to see more than the Tagus River and some of the closest roofs along the riverside area of the parish of São Vicente de Fora.
